Hattie is a licensed clinical social worker with a background in trauma focused treatment, direct practice, relationship concerns, and addiction. She earned her B.A. from West Virginia University with a double major in Psychology and Women & Gender Studies. Hattie then completed her Master of Social Work at the University of Pittsburgh. During her years of work as a drug and alcohol therapist, Hattie became passionate about reducing the negative impacts associated with unaddressed trauma. Hattie became trained in EMDR therapy and integrated mindfulness/somatic approaches into her work. She then transitioned into Advocacy work and is now one of our first Care Advocates at Pitt. Hattie hopes to use her knowledge of trauma focused care in helping students who have experienced identity-based bias, harassment, and discrimination (including sexual misconduct) with navigating systems within the University.
